Whakapapa along with siter resort Turoa is the largest ski area in New Zealand under one lift pass. The resorts are situated on the slopes of Mt Ruapehu, an active Volcano, with excellent freeriding terrain. Whakapapa has a varied terrain suitable for all levels and tastes from beginners to expert riders Turoa offers natural half pipes and it is also equipped with a terrain park.

By Air: Auckland airport By Train: It is possible to get a train to National Park Village, which is 12 miles away from the resort. Get the Overlander passenger train service, from Wellington-Auckland to National Park Village. (www.tranzscenic.co.nz). By Car: From Auckland, drive south on SH1 to Taupo and then on to Turangi arriving in Whakapapa about 4.5 hours later From Wellington, drive north on SH1 to Waiouru, get on Ohakune, go through National Park Village and arrive at the resort 4.5 hours later. |
