The Mount Baker Ski Area is a ski resort located in Whatcom County, Washington, in the United States of America. The ski resort is also known for the world record for snowfall in one season: 1,140 inches (29 m). This record snowfall fell during the 1998-99 season. While Mt. Baker is renowned for numerous challenging routes ("The Chute", "Gabl's") and for the numerous backcountry opportunities around it. The backcountry is accessible from several chairlifts. The resort is also known for its legendary banked slalom. Started in 1985, this slalom race through the natural half pipe has since become a big international event Mt. Baker features one terrain park, called the Pinky Park, located at the top of chairs 3 and 4. It includes a few smaller jumps as well as a variety of boxes |
